6.9 References to a work referred to in another work
When referring to a work that is referred to in another work, cite the work that has actually been referred to. Do not directly cite a work that has not been sighted.
Eg AV Dicey Introduction to the Study of the Law of the Constitution (10th ed, Macmillan, London, 1959) at 202 as cited in Philip A Joseph Constitutional & Administrative Law in New Zealand (3rd ed, Thomson Brookers, Wellington, 2007) at [6.4.1].
