20th NZLF Ethel Benjamin Commemorative Address - to be given by The Hon. Marcia Neave AO
The 2016 New Zealand Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Commemorative Address will be presented by The Hon. Marcia Neave AO, at 1pm on 14th July at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, 30 The Octagon, Dunedin. Details about the eventHer Honour is the former Chair of the Royal Commission into Family Violence, and a former Justice of the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Victoria. She has always been passionate about how the law relates to women and responds to their needs. The address, run annually by Otago Women Lawyers Society (OWLS), is given in honour of New Zealand’s first woman barrister and solicitor, Ethel Benjamin who was admitted to the bar in 1897. The event is expected to be of interest to local practitioners, the judiciary and members of the public. Last year’s address by Justice Christine French, is now available on our YouTube channelThe Law Foundation is providing up to $7,950 towards bringing this year’s speaker for the address. |
