Keynote speakers include <a href=\"https:\/\/researchers.anu.edu.au\/researchers\/haines-fs\">Professor Fiona Haines<\/a> from the School of Social and Political Sciences at University of Melbourne and <a href=\"http:\/\/law.duke.edu\/fac\/wiener\/\">Professor Jonathon B Wiener<\/a> from the Nicholas School of the Environment and the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University.<\/p>\n<p>The conference aims to advance the dialogue on regulatory reform in New Zealand using research from the New Zealand Law Foundation&#8217;s Regulatory Reform Project. The project started in 2010, led by Professor Susy Frankel, and comprises a multidisciplinary team of researchers from Victoria University&#8217;s Faculty of Law, New Zealand Institute of Economic Research and Chapman Tripp. It is the second largest research project the Law Foundation has funded to date.<\/p>\n<p>The catalyst for the project was the theme that \u2018smarter regulatory processes and ultimately better regulation should result in both economic and social benefits for New Zealanders&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The following themes from this interdisciplinary research will be discussed at the conference:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Features of the Uniqueness of New Zealand and their Role in Regulation<\/li>\n<li>Voyage of Discovery: How do we bring Analytical Techniques to State Driven Behaviour Change?<\/li>\n<li>Learning the Way Forward? The Role of Monitoring, Evaluation and Review<\/li>\n<li>Experimentation and Regulation<\/li>\n<li>Certainty and Discretion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Attendees will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on a Toolkit developed from the research.<\/p>\n<p>The second publication from the Regulatory Reform Project, &#8216;Recalibrating Behaviour: Smarter Regulation in a Global World&#8217;, will be launched at the conference.
