These relate to medical\ntreatment, personal relationships, financial affairs, wills, dealing with\naddiction etc. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Assessment of Mental Capacity - A New Zealand Guide for Doctors and Lawyers\" target=\"_blank\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lawfoundation.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/2017_44_17_Cover-Assessing-Capacity-18.2.2020-211x300.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The book is written by experts from a range of disciplines\nincluding law, medicine and ethics and is based on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alisondouglass.co.nz\/\">Toolkit for Assessing Capacity<\/a>\npublished online in 2019 by the authors, and included in this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Assessment of Mental Capacity<\/em> combines an explanation of the\nlaw, case studies, how mental capacity is assessed and what supporting people\nwith impaired capacity means in practice.
