This is the largest and most prestigious mooting competition in the world.<\/p>\n<p>After four preliminary rounds, the team reached the knock out rounds, winning its top 32 and top 16 moots. The team reached the quarter finals, but lost to Yale in a hard-found moot. They finished in the top 8 out of all teams at the international rounds. This achievement means the team was in the best 1% of universities that participated. They also received awards for the 3rd best respondent written memorials and for the 5th best combined applicant and respondent memorials.<\/p>\n<p>We congratulate team members Rachel Buckman, Yao Dong (ranked 15th best speaker), Naushyn Janah (ranked 58th best speaker), Jae Kim and Max Ashmore, and their coaches Tiaan Nelson and Sarah Wilson.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Law Foundation provides $30,000 annually to assist the NZ representative team compete at the Jessup Competition.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NZ Representative Team from Auckland University law school competed at the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington last month along with more than 680 other teams.
