These resources provide insight into recent and past legal research projects the Law Foundation has funded. They cover the latest legal research findings, and addresses given by leading legal professionals and academics.<\/p>\n

Research Reports<\/h4>\n

Reports on legal research findings are available for a number of projects we have funded including:<\/p>\n

Five reports released July 2020 by the Children\u2019s Issues Centre,<\/strong> (Faculty of Law, University of Otago) from the study \u201cParenting Arrangements after Separation; Evaluating the 2014 Family Law Reforms\u201d<\/strong> – the result of a 6-year study involving 364 family justice professionals and 655 parents\/caregivers, undertaken by Nicola Taylor, Megan Gollop, Nicola Liebergreen and Claire Cameron: <\/p>\n

Findings contributed significantly to the recent review of the family law system undertaken by the Minister of Justice.<\/p>\n

Government Use of Artificial Intelligence in New Zealand<\/strong> by Colin Gavaghan, James Maclaurin, Ali Knott, John Zerilli, Joy Liddicoat<\/a> \u2013 released May 2019 by University of Otago. This is the first major report from the Artificial Intelligence and Law project and it is focused on regulatory issues surrounding the use of predictive AI models in NZ government departments.<\/p>\n

The Resource Management System the Next Generation – Synthesis Report<\/strong> by Greg Severinsen and Raewyn Peart<\/a> – released in April 2019 by Environmental Defence Society. This is the final report for EDS\u2019s Phase One work focussed on finding options for reforming the resource management system in New Zealand. Their Phase 2 final report is due out in December 2019.<\/p>\n
