Fifth International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court Competition - 2-3 Dec 2016 - Wellington
~~~~2-3 DECEMBER 2016 – NZ RED CROSS, WELLINGTON New Zealand Red Cross, in conjunction with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will run the fifth International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court Competition for New Zealand law students on 2nd and 3rd December 2016, in Wellington. This is the only competition of its type in New Zealand. It provides an opportunity to promote awareness of IHL issues among law faculties and students at universities throughout New Zealand. It also allows for law students to meet and interact with IHL practitioners in New Zealand, such as those from the Red Cross, Defence and other legal professionals, whose representatives volunteer their time to help run and judge the competition. All six law schools have indicated they will send a team this year – each team consists of two student mooters and a researcher as well as a coach. The final round for the two top teams in this national competition will be held at the Old High Court in Wellington at 4pm Saturday 3rd Dec and will be open to the public. The winning team will have the opportunity to represent New Zealand at the Asia-Pacific Regional IHL Moot Court Competition in Hong Kong in March 2017. The Law Foundation has granted up to $5,000 towards the running costs for this competition. |
